Lesson from My Father

Anthony Martinez is my father.  Today is his birthday, as I reflect on him I remember one of the lessons he taught me from a very young age.  First I will give you a little bit of background knowledge.  He was a salesman.  Even when that was not his trade (even though most of the time it was) he was a salesman.  There was always something to sell, even if ti was only yourself.  This bring me to his lesson.

He use to tell me:

"Rule number one is Sell Yourself.

Rule number two know your product better than anyone else."

These two rules are so pivotal in how I operate.  I sell real estate services, but so does over 300 other agents in the Bitterroot Vally and I dont know how many in Missoula.  Since we all sell the same stuff why would anyone use me over my competition?  Because I am better than my competition.  I just have to prove that to you.  That is selling myself.  In order to prove that to you I have to know what homes are on the market, what is selling, and how you can profit from that information.  That is rule number two.

Thank you Dad

I used to tell people that my brother was so good of a salesman that he could "sell you that shirt you're wearing".....and you would leave thinking you got a great deal!
