We are skipping the real estate "slow" season
The holidays typically are a sign that the slow season of real estate has started. People are busy with their families, shopping, and charging up those credit cards. Not an ideal time to try and qualify for a new house.
This year is slightly different.
Due to many things (primarily the economy) it is estimated that people are not going to travel as much this holiday season, they are spending less (everybody loves to get freezer jam), coupled with the extension and expansion of the first time home buyer tax credit; this years "slow" season is going to be busier than ever.
What does this mean for you?
If you are a buyer, get moving. I dont know how else to put it. If you dont want to feel like you missed the real estate boat then you better jump and jump now!
If you are a seller, now is not the time to take your home off the market. You may not get a ton of showings this holiday season, but the serious buyers are scoping out the market place. You want to make sure you are on the list. If your agent is scaling back their marketing during this pivotal time, you should have a strong heart to heart and explain that is is time to sell.
